Attention Business Owners – Life Insurance in Lafayette, IN

As an Insurance agent in downtown Lafayette, Indiana, I help families and small business owners protect what matters most to them.

One of my goals for 2017 is to focus on helping more people with their life insurance needs. I want to share a little about how life insurance should be an important part of your business plans.

As a small business owner, you know that it’s not just your family that depends on you. Your partners, employees, and clients all count on you to be there for them, which would make your unexpected passing a tragedy, especially for the people of the company you worked so hard to build.  Most, if not all, small business owners have a lot of pride and love built into what they do, and life insurance is a tool to ensure that love.

Your family depends on your business income to survive.  If you have taken out loans for your business, you know that sometimes, they are backed by your family’s assets. But what if your family isn’t equipped to take over that business when you die? And what if they can’t easily sell the business? This can result in a loss of family income, possible inherited debt from loans, added stress of trying to sell a business quickly for little profit, or even the chance of the business shutting down.

If you have business partners, your family may not be prepared to take over your role with the business. Your partners also may not have the capital available to quickly buy your family out, possibly causing additional stress to the business and a loss of income to your family.

Your employees depend on their paychecks to survive. If something were to happen to you and your business suddenly had to close its doors, what would happen to your employees?

Your clients count on you too.  I know my clients depend on the security of my agency. If there was a sudden change, like my business closing its doors, it would certainly make for a hard transition for my clients.

In each case listed above, life insurance can save your small business and protect your family, partners, employees and clients.

As far as my business goes, my husband is not prepared and has no desire to take over my agency. With the demands of his own career and our daughter, being under the age of two, taking over my agency would just be impossible. I also have three full time employees whose livelihood depends on my agency, and hundreds of clients who trust me and my staff to take care of their insurance needs.

I want to be sure that, if something were to happen to me, my family has the financial security and time to sell my agency for a profit.  I want my staff to have job security and hopefully move on to work with a new owner.  I want my clients to see as little disruption as possible.  This is why I have life insurance in place to protect my business.  I love my business and what I do, and life insurance is there is ensure my love.
